It's a push-and-pull for Texas unemployment numbers.
On Friday, the Workforce Commission reported the number of people without jobs went up again.
State officials have tried adding jobs to off-set the rising unemployment figures.
Right now that number sits at 8.3%, still well below the national rate of 10.2%.
Here in the basin, those numbers are headed downward.
Midland is down point .3% from September, and Odessa is down .2%.
The state added almost 42,000 new jobs to the roster, the second increase in the past year.
The areas that saw the biggest increase are education and health services.
