ODESSA - On Wednesday night, members of the E.C.I.S.D. School Board and other educators met to get a lesson on Bible literature.
The man giving the presentation knows his stuff.
Dr. Duke Pesta has taught the Bible as literature at three different Universities.
He specializes in Shakespeare, the Renaissance, and the Bible.
He took those educators attending Wednesday night's question and answer session through the curriculum taught at both E.C.I.S.D. High schools.
"From my perspective in particular the theological aspects don't really enter into it. It really becomes a course in culture like any other cultural text that has had that kind of an influence deserves to be studied in public schools," Pesta said.
The E.C.I.S.D. Elective Bible course drew critisicm from some parents who filed a lawsuit challenging the way it was being taught.
The judge ruled the class can continue with some modifications.
