ODESSA- On Thursday, the Texas Transportation Commission approved more than $230-million dollars in funds for road projects throughout Texas, including in the Permian Basin.

The project is called the Ports-to-Plains.

This project was actually approved by voters back in 2007 through Proposition 12 and now construction is finally kicking off.

Most of the funding will be distributed to six TXDOT districts so they can fix roads. Most of them for safety reasons.

Most of the major projects will be happening in the Basin.

In Big Spring, a reliever route will be created, and in Midland, parts of Highway 349 will go from two lanes to four.

Several road projects will also be hitting San Angelo, Abilene and Lubbock.
