Big Spring Man Shoots Suspected Wire Thief

BIG SPRING - A man is in the hospital in Lubbock after being shot while allegedly stealing wire from a truck.

The shooting happened around 5:25 Monday morning in the 1300 block of Park. Police say a man caught 35-year-old Christopher Myrick of Big Spring stealing wire from his truck. The man fired numerous shots and Myrick and says his work truck has been burglarized several times in the past few months.

Myrick was hit at least once in the chest and showed up at Scenic Mountain Medical Center for treatment. Myrick was then flown to a Lubbock hospital in serious condition.

No arrests have been made and police continue to investigate. The case will be handed over to the District Attorney's Office once it's complete.
