BIG SPRING - The Big Spring State Hospital can no longer do their own hiring.
The Health and Human Services Agency in Austin is now taking over.
The hospital can still interview and select candidates but the state agency will have the final say-so when it comes to hiring psychiatrists.
A health department spokesperson says it's to protect the safety of the patients.
This comes after three hospital psychiatrists were hired by state hospitals knowing they had a history of sexual misconduct.
