LEA COUNTY, N.M. - A former Lea County Sheriff's Deputy, accused of molesting his two step-granddaughters, will get a new trial.

61-year-old Danny Surratt was convicted last year but a judge threw out the guilty verdict and ordered a new trial.

Surratt denies the allegations.

His defense attorney has asked to separate the two victims into two cases but the district attorney does not want that to happen.
